Colder weather forecasts for today’s 12Z GFS Operational compared to the 12Z GFS Operational yesterday have increased the total amount of natural gas production freeze-offs in the Lower 48 from 9.6 Bcf to 18.6 Bcf.  Colder weather forecasts for today’s 12Z Euro Operational compared to the 12Z Euro Operational yesterday have increased the total amount of natural gas production freeze-offs in the Lower 48 from 7.8 Bcf to 17.1 Bcf.  A key factor for the current winter storm will be if it’s associated with mass power outages, especially in the Northeast and Permian.  If mass power outages do occur with the current winter storm, then the total amount of production freeze-offs will be much higher.
