Vulcan Holiday Update: Expanded Data Center Coverage

SynMax Research:

As a holiday update for our clients, Vulcan has significantly boosted its coverage of data centers with online dates scheduled through the end of 2030. We have added over 16 GW of proposed projects, bringing our total monitored capacity to nearly 200 GW.

We have also updated our data tables to include projects not currently monitored via satellite. This update serves two primary purposes:

  1. Transparency: It allows users to accurately calculate our total coverage percentage.
  2. Customization: It enables users to request satellite monitoring for specific projects that are high priority for their analysis.

Currently, Vulcan monitors over 95% of the total capacity listed by IIR.

Thermal Drone Capabilities

We continue to refine our project tracking through the use of advanced thermal drone missions. We recently completed two thermal drone missions for the following data centers, adjusting project statuses where the thermal data indicated a difference.

Vulcan Thermal Drone Report (Aldie IAD 12-13 & Aldie IAD 125-127)

SynMax recently collected drone images of two data center campuses located in Ashburn Virginia on 12/16/2025.

3552916 Aldie (Ashburn) Data Center IAD 12 & 3552917 IAD 13 (2 x 30MW)

Startup Dates: 11/28/2025*, Unit Status: Under Construction*, Owner: Microsoft Corporation*

*Unit details provided by IIR

Vulcan drone imagery reveals these units are not completed with active construction seen. Unit startup will be delayed, and Vulcan construction status will be updated from ‘Completed’ to ‘Confirmed’.

3607726 Aldie IAD-125 & IAD-127 Data Center (2 x 29MW)

Startup Dates: 12/31/2025*, Unit Status: Under Construction*, Owner: Amazon Web Services (AWS)*

*Unit details provided by IIR

Vulcan drone imagery reveals early load testing of backup generators for both units. Indicating construction is complete, but the unit is not fully operational. The Vulcan construction status will remain as ‘Completed’ and units are expected to make their listed startup.
