Drone Imagery Confirms Kuna DCI and DCII Are Operational

Meta Platforms | Kuna, Idaho | Kuna DCI and DCII, 60 MW each (campus planned for 240 MW across four units) | Drone flight: September 25, 2026

A September 25 drone flight shows both completed halls at Meta’s Kuna Data Center running. The heat exchangers serving Kuna DCI read warm across the yard, and sections of the Kuna DCII banks read warm at a lighter level, consistent with a hall at partial or ramping load.

Meta announced in September that the Kuna Data Center is online and operational, with two buildings serving traffic. Reported dates often lag what is happening on site, and IIR Energy still lists both halls as under construction with a December 31, 2026 startup. Vulcan’s satellite review dates construction completion to October 2025 for Kuna DCI and November 2025 for Kuna DCII, when major equipment was in place at both halls. A completed hall still needs commissioning and IT fit-out before it carries load, which can take months. Our thermal pass confirms both halls are now running, with Kuna DCII still at a lighter level.

A clear operational signal at Kuna DCI

Kuna uses a closed-loop cooling design, rejecting heat through yards of heat exchangers beside each hall. At Kuna DCI, the fan decks read warm across the yard in the September 25 thermal, showing the hall is actively rejecting heat.

Kuna DCII is running at a lighter level

Kuna DCII shows the same pattern with less intensity. Sections of its heat-exchanger banks read warm, but the signal is weaker and less uniform than at Kuna DCI, consistent with a hall still ramping or running at partial load.
