Vulcan's Datacenter Coverage Exceeds 40 GW – 6 GW of Power Projects at Risk of Delay This Summer (Client Only)
Our data center coverage continues to expand and now exceeds 40 GW, with a primary focus on projects slated for 2026 and 2027.
Next week, we will review some of the 2025 projects. However, we anticipate that the majority of these projects are progressing as expected and are currently under construction, aligning with IIR data. Furthermore, we will begin to incorporate coverage of projects planned for 2028.
In our power project monitoring, we have identified land clearing activities at four sites. Clients can easily find these projects in the database along with all the key attributes.
As summer heat begins to impact Texas, we are re-evaluating the summer construction outlook. The latest EIA-860M report indicates approximately 36 GW of power projects scheduled for completion by September. Based on Vulcan's earliest online date calculations, we project that around 6 GW of this listed capacity will not meet these online dates. Vulcan clients can easily extract a list of these units, which we strongly advise excluding from your power model simulations for this summer.
Our highlighted project this week is the Sandstone Data Center in Virginia. Construction is evidently underway, and they appear to be on track to meet their targeted online dates.
