SynMax Research:
Another month, another 860M update. This time, the big story is the number of added projects. This September saw the largest addition of projects, around 10 GW, for a September going back to 2018. Not only is that a record, but it also marks the most added natural gas plant projects at 2.5 GW.
Geographically, the additions were greatest in the state of Texas, at over 2.5 GW, with all projects expected to come online by 2030.
Around 150 MW of projects were cancelled. A 61 MW Texas battery project proposed back in August 2022 finally got cancelled. It had a low rank of 2.54. An 83 MW solar project in VA also got cancelled with a ranking of 2.75. Both rankings are relatively low, showing the efficacy of the ranking system.
On the ghost front—projects showing up for the first time in the 860M as operational—we have two batteries, one in Colorado and one in Texas, and some solar in the Northeast.
