As stated in the prior freeze-off update from last week, the Lower 48 US natural gas production freeze-off situation is dynamic and volatile due to the extreme volatility of the weather forecasts in January and February. The 1-15-day weather forecasts for January 8th have warmed up some compared to January 7th. Total Lower 48 natural gas production freeze-offs are now estimated to be 22.7 Bcf for January-2024 compared to 25.5 Bcf for yesterday. The Northeast and North Dakota warmed up some to cause the production freeze-off forecast to be slightly lower compared to January 7th.
