NG Production Freeze-Off Update 12/27/2024



Using the latest GFS Operational weather forecast going out to January 11th, 2025, there is the potential for natural gas production freeze-offs in North Dakota and in the Northeast.


North Dakota freeze-offs would likely begin around January 1st as mean temperatures in Bismarck are expected to go to near 0 degrees Fahrenheit.  The Northeast region is likely to see natural gas production freeze-offs beginning around January 4th as Pittsburgh high temperatures are expected to crack below 32 degrees.  Total Lower 48 natural gas production freeze-offs are expected to peak around 2.7 Bcf/d around January 8th.
