Natural gas production for the Lower 48 US, as measured by pipeline scrape data, is down for the month of September as compared to the month of August. September Lower 48 production is on average down ~0.9 Bcf/d compared to August production. September production is typically lower due to higher pipeline maintenance and lower demand throughout the Lower 48 as compared to August.
Northeast production is also down in September compared to August. Northeast production is expected to remain down in September and could drop further when the Cove Point LNG liquefaction plant goes down for its annual maintenance every year beginning on September 20th and ending around October 10th.
October should see a pickup in production as producers gear up for higher winter pricing along with better pricing in October as compared to September.
