Hyperion & EIA NG Production -- 2/5/25
2/5/25
The EIA has released its L48 dry natural gas production estimates for October and November 2024, a period which includes the Matterhorn pipeline commissioning. The EIA’s numbers closely match the SynMax daily production model.
How the addition of the intrastate Matterhon pipeline influences Permian natural gas production has been a topic of debate among analysts since its commissioning. The Matterhorn Express Pipeline started flowing natural gas on October 1, 2024. SynMax has been closely watching official production data releases from the TRRC and EIA to ensure that our production models accurately represent reality. While we await additional data from the TRRC the EIA’s close alignment with our estimates gives us further confidence that Hyperion is capturing the effects of the Matterhorn Express Pipeline accurately.
The two charts below represent the monthly and daily time series data for EIA’s L48 dry natural gas production and the SynMax daily production model.
