The Gulf Coast Express Expansion (GCXE) is probably online as of June 09, 2026. First flow was detected at the TGP Agua Dulce GCXE receipt meter in Nueces County, TX. The expansion adds approximately 500 MMcf/d of incremental takeaway capacity from the Permian Basin to the Gulf Coast — a critical relief valve for the most prolific dry gas producing region in the United States.
Ramp-Up Status: Peak nominations have reached 89,972 MMBtu/d against 248,200 MMBtu/d design capacity (36.2% utilization), indicating the pipeline is in early commissioning with significant ramp-up runway remaining.
Market Impact: The Waha-to-Henry Hub basis differential (Bloomberg NGTXOASI Index) has strengthened dramatically from a trough of $-9.6/MMBtu to $-1.01/MMBtu, consistent with the market pricing in the additional takeaway capacity. Henry Hub is currently at $3.22/MMBtu.
Outlook: With utilization at only 36.2%, the expansion has substantial room to grow. Continued flow increases should further support Waha basis narrowing toward historical norms and enable incremental Permian dry gas production growth. Permian production is currently running at 14.61 Bcf/d.
